Expanding the Brain

Nothing can take the place of simply picking up a physical book and opening it up to read for a while.

Electronic books....well are just a no-no for me. I get that its quick, easy to produce, yadda yadda~
But there has to be some time in our lives where we can just disconnect from the world- that also includes anything electronic...cell phones, computers, televisions, video games, Ipods, Ipads..etc. Am I missing anything??
Now just going out for a quiet walk or just meditating is refreshing and one should do this as often as your crazy busy life  permits.... just to recharge your batteries and bring you down to earth for some well needed peace.
To me there is nothing better than to take some of that time to increase your brain cells, to increase your knowledge or maybe to have a little mind adventure for pleasure. Picking up a book and feeling the cover ( I prefer hard covers) and thumbing through the pages, the smell of the paper and ink fuels the enchantment of what you are about to devour. There is so much to choose from. So many topics.....whatever you want to learn, know, journey with. Having some friends you can share your experiences with after reading the same book can be fun. Its great to get different perspectives on the same subject. Makes for some good  positive debating conversations. If your reading for knowledge-it  works the same way as they may have an interesting view.. or pick up something you had not thought of.
I love reading biographies of certain people I find fascinating-I love the psychology of people...(why they think and do the things they do. I love a good head scratcher.) I like true stories, I like scary literature... and most of all I love scripture reading in the morning as it gets my thoughts off on a positive uplifting motion forward. I like to read spiritual books. But I  do admit I am very choosy when it comes to that, because lets face it...everyone has an opinion and many love to write about it~
Not only do I love to read and fill my mind with new things to ponder, I love to write and I have just begun to journal. Last year my dear longtime friend Maria from Florida, fashioned a cute little personal journal book for me. It had pages with pictures of family and friends and little quotes. She wrote the start of different questions so I could personalize my thoughts......
I also started to write my personal faith journey down. My thoughts and words will become a precious gift to  future generations ( in my family); just as you or whomever does this will also come to fruition. I encourage you to do this for your future family. They will surely come to know you in a most lovely deep way. People have shared their stories orally and though pen and paper for centuries.
Its a great way to share your legacy.
Give it some thought~
Enjoy your week and find your inner bookworm :)
Happy thoughts
~Peace out~
